The building constructed in the coastal town of Jaureguiberry, department of Canelones, is a school of rural model destined to public education and was built under the method developed by the North American architect Michael Reynolds, who has applied it during the last decades in different points. of the planet. The 270 m2 building was built in just seven weeks. It uses approximately 60% of recycled materials (covers, plastic and glass bottles, cans and cardboard) and 40% of traditional materials. The earthship, as Reynolds calls it, seeks to obtain maximum use of the energy of the sun, water, wind and earth. For this the envelope is sensitive to the orientations, it opens to the north, taking maximum advantage of the light and solar energy through a wide glazed corridor.
